Warrants were executed at three addresses in New Parks during a morning of enforcement activity to tackle drug dealing in the area.

The operation ran yesterday (Thursday 21 February) and was planned after concerns were raised from residents in the local community.

A 29-year-old man, from Leicester, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs, obstructing an officer, and possession of a firearm in the form of suspected CS spray canister.

A 40-year-old Leicester woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs and a small amount cannabis was also seized from one the addresses. Both have been released under investigation.

Residents were kept informed about the warrants with Police Community Support Officers speaking to neighbours and leafletting the area to raise awareness of the enforcement activity.

Sergeant Adam Hastie from New Parks’ neighbourhood team said: “The local community has helped us to identify potential drug dealing in the area and we have acted on the concerns raised.

“The feedback given has been really positive and we thank local residents for providing valuable information following which led to arrests being made.

“I would encourage people to carry on telling us what they know about suspected criminality near where they live.”
