Incident number: 50 of 7 February
The M1 northbound has reopened following a serious collision in the early hours of today (Thursday 7 February).
Officers were called at 3.20am this morning by a member of the public reporting a collision involving four lorries on the M1 between junctions 20 and 21 at Whetstone.
The fire service and ambulance service attended the scene and a 47-year-old man was taken to the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment to his injuries. His condition is described as serious.
There were no reports of anyone else having been injured.
The M1 was closed between junctions 20-21 to allow officers to carry out an investigation of the scene and for a subsequent clearing of the debris. The carriageways have since fully reopened.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who was travelling along the M1 and saw the collision itself or the lorries being driven beforehand.
Equally, anyone with dashcam fitted to their vehicles and who may have captured the incident is also asked to contact police.
