Man injured following robbery in Leicester

A man was left with facial injuries following a robbery in London Road, Leicester.

The victim had been walking through the area on the evening of Monday 28 January, carrying two bags, and was near the junction with Prebend Street when he was approached by four men at around 7.40pm.

Some of the men attacked the victim, punching him. The victim, who is in his 20s, managed to get away from the men who then left the scene.

The men are described as white and were wearing hoodies. They had bottles and cans in their hands during the incident.

The victim did not require hospital treatment for his injuries.

Investigations are being carried out into whether any items were stolen from him during the incident.

It is believed a number of people witnessed the incident or saw the victim following the incident. This includes two people who reportedly pulled up and asked the victim if he needed a lift home.

Police Constable Neil Rawlings said: “Enquiries are ongoing to find the people responsible for this attack.

“We understand a number of people were in the area at the time and therefore could have significant information, including two people who stopped to offer the victim a lift home.
