Detectives have released CCTV footage of three men they would like to trace following an assault on a Leicester shopkeeper.

At around 6pm on Monday 5 November, a man entered the Bal Tika European supermarket in Upperton Road asking for money.

He left empty handed and returned around 10 minutes later with two other men armed with baseball bats.

The group assaulted the shopkeeper before leaving the store. He attended hospital to receive treatment to a broken arm and injury to his hand.

Detective Constable Charlotte Mee, the investigating officer, is appealing for the public’s help to identify the people in this footage.

DC Mee said: “The shopkeeper although receiving a significant injury was very lucky not to have more seriously injured. He has understandably been left upset and continues to receive further hospital treatment.

“Upperton Road is a busy road with many motorists passing through especially at this time of the day with people traveling home from work.

“I am asking people to think back. Did you see these men in the area at the time of the incident? Have you seen them in the local area since? Do you know who they are?

“We need to catch the people responsible for this offence and would urge anyone who has any information, no matter who small it could be, to please get in touch.”
