Man assaulted during robbery in Melton Mowbray

A man was assaulted and had his wallet and phone stolen during a robbery in Melton Mowbray.

Officers are appealing for information following the incident which happened in Nottingham Road, near the junction with Staveley Road, at around 1.50am on Sunday (14 October).

The man, aged 50, was attacked by a number of people, who are believed to be youths. He suffered a number of injuries. He has not received hospital treatment.

No weapons were reported to have been used in the incident.

Enquiries are continuing.

Police Constable Michael Sanders said: “We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident which happened during the early hours of Sunday morning.

“I believe there would have been a number of people and vehicles in the area and urge anyone who has any information to make contact.

“Were you in the area around this time or were you driving in the area? Did you see anything which caused you concern? Or do you have any dashcam footage or CCTV which could help the investigation? If you have any information, please get in touch.”
