UPDATED Re-appeal issued after fatal collision on the M1

Incident number: 48 of 9 September

Officers are re-appealing for public help after a fatal collision on the southbound carriageway of the M1 during the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday 9 September).

A report was received just before 1.15am that a black Audi A3 had left the carriageway between junctions 20 and 21, in the parish of Dunton Bassett, Leicestershire, and come to rest in an embankment.

The driver of the vehicle managed to get out of the car, but he was then involved in a collision with a silver Ford Fiesta. He was taken to hospital where he subsequently died.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are being investigated and officers and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any part of the collision.

They would especially like drivers who have dashcam footage and may have captured the incident to get in touch as they may be able to help with the investigation.
