Motorcyclist seriously injured following collision

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Melton Mowbray.

The incident, which involved the motorbike and a car, happened just before 6am on the A607 Leicester Road near Gaddesby Lane crossroads.

The motorcyclist, a man, has been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, who has not yet spoken to police, to make contact.

Detective Sergeant Gary Haines said: “We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and understand there may have been people in the area at the time of the collision who have not yet spoken to us.

“If this is you, then please make contact with us. A motorcyclist has been seriously injured and it is important that we speak to everyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it.

“Anyone who was on the road between 5.30am and 6.15am and who has any dashcam footage from this time should also contact us."
