Officers investigating two suspicious fires in a Leicester street within the same week are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The most recent incident took place just before 6pm on Saturday (9 June) when clothing was pushed through a gap in an open window and set alight.
A week before (Saturday 2 June) matches were thrown in to a room through an open window around 4.20am. This resulted in some fire damage to a teddy bear which was on the window sill.
The incidents took place at two separate properties in Christow Street, Leicester. Due to the similarities between both reports officers are linking the incidents.
PC Sophie Young is investigating the incident at the weekend. She said: “Fortunately the fires didn’t cause any serious damage or injury but this was a dangerous act which could have had far worse consequences.
“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area or knows who may be responsible. Any information you can provide could help us move the investigation on.
“We are currently looking at CCTV and carrying out house-to-house enquiries locally, but if you can help please get in touch.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 752 Young on 101, quoting crime reference number 18266311 or 18252505.
