Tackling knife crime in West Leicester

Five people have been arrested and three of them charged during a four day enforcement campaign to tackle knife crime in West Leicester.

20 year old Aaron Mann of Aikman Avenue in Leicester was charged on Friday 11 May with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a shortened shotgun and possession of controlled ‘Class B’ drugs. He was remanded into custody.

37 year old Dean Wellbourne of Bennion Road in Leicester was charged on Wednesday 9 May with theft from a shop, possession of a knife in a public place and assault by beating. He was remanded into custody, to appear at Leicester Magistrates on Thursday 10 May.

A 15 year old youth was charged with criminal damage, assault by beating and harassment on Tuesday 8 May and released under investigation.

Two other men from Leicester, aged 20 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and released under investigation.
