Natalija Ijevleva, the mother of 22-year-old Viktorija Ijevleva, has released the following tribute in memory of her daughter, who lost her life in an explosion in Hinckley Road, Leicester, on Sunday 25 February.

She said: “Of all the mothers in the world, I was the happiest of them all.

“There are very few children like my beautiful Viktorija. Friends were always jealous that I never had any problems with my little one. We shared a mutual understanding with one another.

“Vika was always joking that all families are the same: parents and children only communicate during the weekends! But in our case we even knew what each of us had for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was not a single day in our lives when we did not phone each other.

“She had a million plans for life. She had finished university and was finding out about how to continue her education towards achieving an MA in accounting.

“She was always feeding and bringing home stray cats and dogs. She once brought home a white cat. The cat was so dirty that it was black. She washed the cat and kept it. She was feeding all the cats in the area and even brought two of them home. She would also bring home injured birds and look after them. She even found an injured parrot.

“She showed so much love to her brother and sister, particularly to Eleonara to whom she was more like a mother than a sister.

“We miss her terribly.”

Viktorija’s mother has asked that the media respect her wishes for privacy at this deeply distressing time.
