UPDATED Man arrested following non-stop collision in Eyres Monsell bailed

A man arrested as part of an investigation into a hit and run collision in Eyres Monsell has been bailed.

The 24-year-old man, from Leicester, who was arrested on suspicion of attempt murder has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A 21-year-old woman, from Leicester, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released from custody pending further investigation.

Officers are still appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.

Police were called to the junction of Thurcroft Road and Hillsborough Road at 11.46am on Tuesday 7 November after a pedestrian was in a collision with a black BMW X5.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The BMW has since been found abandoned in Glen Rise and has been recovered for forensic examination.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it.

Detective Chief Inspector Rob Widdowson is leading the investigation. He said: “The victim has been left with very serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

“We need to speak to anyone who say what happened or who may have information about who is responsible. Can you help us?

“Were you in the area of Hillsborough Road yesterday morning?

“Did you see a BMW in the area of Glen Rise or on the Gilmorton Estate between 11.45am and 1.30pm and see a BMW being driven dangerously and erratically?”
