Appeal to trace driver involved in moped collision

Police are trying to trace the driver of a car who fled the scene of a collision in Eyres Monsell.

Officers were called at 2.10pm today (Thursday 9 November) to a report of a road traffic collision in Red House Road close to its junction with Red House Gardens involving a moped and a white Peugeot.

The moped rider has been taken to the University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

The driver of the Peugeot made off from the scene on foot leaving the vehicle abandoned at the scene. It has since been recovered by officers.

Detective Constable Alison Briance, from the force’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing to locate the driver of the vehicle and I would like to ask anyone who may know who the driver is, witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle prior to the collision to please get in touch.”
