Detectives are investigating after a fatal collision on the A6 in Oadby this evening (Thursday 10 August).
Officers were called to London Road (A6) just before 8pm after a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The collision took place just outside the Asda superstore and initially both sides of the dual carriageway were closed. The county bound carriageway has since been re-opened and the city bound carriageway remains closed.
Detective Constable John Borlase is investigating the collision, he said: “We’d advise anyone who is travelling towards the A6 in Oadby to avoid the area and take an alternative route.
“We hope to open the carriageway as soon as possible and thank those who were unfortunately caught up in the congestion for their patience and understanding.
“If you witnessed the collision or saw either the pedestrian or lorry beforehand then please contact us.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 1299 John Borlase on 101, quoting incident number 665 of 10 August.
