Appeal after cash stolen from betting shop

Issued on 3/8/17 at 10:00 p.m.

Incident number: LEP-030817-614

Detectives are investigating after cash was stolen during an armed robbery at a betting shop in Leicester.

Officers were called to Mark Jarvis bookmakers in Egginton Street just before 7.30pm today (Thursday 3 August) where a man had gone into the premises and demanded money before leaving with some of the takings.

The man is described as being between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall, of slim to medium build and was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, a black face covering, dark grey jogging bottoms, trainers and one white glove.

Detective Sergeant Mark Zanker said: “The area around the bookmakers quite busy at the time so it is likely that someone will have seen the man before he went into the premises or as he fled the scene. We know that he left the shop on foot and witnesses have said he was wearing one white glove – something that might have stood out to other members of the public he could have passed.”

“I’m keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who thinks they might have seen the suspect before or after the incident.”

Witnesses, or anyone with information, should call 101, quoting incident 614 of 3 August.
