Two women have been sentenced today after pleading guilty to failing to take reasonable care of the health and safety of another person in their care.
Marilyn Smith, 62, of Lee Rise, Ratby, and Eileen Coull, 64, of Groby Road, Leicester, appeared at Leicester Crown Court today (Thursday 13 July) and were given a conditional discharge for a period of 12 months.
They pleaded guilty at a hearing on Wednesday 5 July to the charges which relate to an incident on 27 January 2016 when an 18-year-old man in their care got into difficulty in a pool in Glenfield Road, Leicester.
He spent almost six months in hospital receiving treatment.
They pleaded guilty to failure to take reasonable care of the health and safety of another person contrary to section 7 and section 33 (1)(a) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
