Woman dies following house fire in Melton Mowbray

Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the cause of a fire in Melton Mowbray in which a woman has died and two other people suffered smoke inhalation.

The emergency services were called to the property on Lambert Close in the town at 8.10pm on Sunday 19 March 2017 following reports that the property was well alight. Sadly a 72 year old woman has died and two men, aged 70 and 32, have been taken to hospital in Nottingham where they are receiving treatment for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but at this stage it is not believed to be suspicious.
