Ashby sudden death – update

A woman found with serious injuries in a house in Ashby yesterday (Thursday 9 March) is this morning in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

She was found by police in a house in Holland Crescent at around 3.20pm. She was taken to the Walsgrave hospital in Coventry by air ambulance.

A post mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of the man who was also found in the house in order to determine the cause of his death.

A child, who was also found in the house, remains in the care of relatives. She was unharmed.

Throughout yesterday evening crime scene investigators conducted a detailed examination of the property which remains cordoned off this morning. House to house enquiries will continue today.

Detective Chief Inspector Jonny Starbuck, who is leading the investigation, said: “We still have extensive further enquiries to make, both at the scene, and into the background of the man and woman involved, but at this stage I do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident.”
