UPDATED Man who died in M69 fatal collision is named

A man who died in a collision on the M69 has been named as Philip Nicholls from Lichfield.

The 63-year-old BMW driver died in the collision on the southbound, Coventry-bound carriageway about half a mile prior to junction 2 at around 8.40pm on Wednesday 8 February.

The collision involved three vehicles a grey BMW 1 series, a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a blue Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the Fiesta, a woman, 23, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment and has since been discharged.

A section of the motorway was closed overnight to allow officers to carry out an investigation of the scene.
