Current local priorities
Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities that we will be concentrating on over the coming months:
There has been an increase in theft from motor vehicles in Braunstone Town and Thorpe Astley, with the majority of crime happening overnight and targetting insecure vehicles.
We encourage anyone who has been targetted, or who is witness to, vehicle crime to report it to us by calling 101.
Issued: August 2018
What we are doing:Leicestershire Police are committed to tackling vehicle crime. As part of our ‘Op Yardage’ campaign for September 2018, local officers will complete high visibility patrols in and around the specified locations. Officers will also raise awareness of the issues surrounding theft from unattended motor vehicles through community events, leaflet drops, street signage and social media activity. Our beat team, alongside the assistance of regional resources and volunteers will be proactive in engaging with the community to encourage people to report crime even where there is little evidence on which to follow up enquiries. By reporting crime we can use this information to build up a picture of where the crime is happening and who we need to be targeting. If you are a victim of crime, please contact us. Any 'live' incidents that you witness should always be reported through 999 and if the matter is not an emergency please make us aware through the non-emergency number, 101. We have received a lot of support from local residents to help us manage and reduce crime on this beat. As always, your continued support is very is much appreciated. Issued: August 2018
