Current local priorities
Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities that we will be concentrating on over the coming months:
The issues identified are burglaries, burglary other than from dwellings, lead theft from churches and theft from vehicles. This is an issue for the rural community and we will look to conduct regular targeted patrols and joint cross border work with Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire Police to run Op Hexagon in relation to burglaries and Op Battlement for lead theft, targeting cross border criminality.
Issued: June 2018
What we are doing:The joint Rutland North and Rutland South priority remains as Rural Crime in relation to Burglaries, car crime and theft. We are still seeing an increase With Theft from vehicles where property has been taken and ask that local residents do not leave any valuables in their vehicles or move the valuable property to boot area prior to your arrival as perpetrators may be watching. We continue to work with Neighbouring Police Forces who are having similar issues. The North Beat and Uppingham have seen an increase in Burglaries with 2 in Uppingham, 1 in Whissendine, 1 in Ashwell and attempt in Greetham and Essendine. Please be aware to leave some lights on and make your house appear occupied especially with the darker nights now upon us. We continue to utilise the ANPR camera in Rutland to identify vehicles travelling through the County either with no driving documents or linked to crime. We will continue to work closely with the local residents and will alert you as soon as crime is reported and ask that if anything suspicious is seen to report through 101. Issued: November 2018
