Current local priorities
Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities that we will be concentrating on over the coming months:
Local residents bought to the Beat Teams attention that drugs and alcohol were being used by our young people in Oakham and Barleythorpe. The ages ranged from 15-21yrs of age. This is having a detrimental affect on these young people and the surrounding premises.
Issued: September 2018
What we are doing:We are continuing to target the areas identified with high visibility policing and engagement with the young people in these areas. When required and with necessary grounds we have stopped and searched young people. We have already had successes and currently we have five young people who have been caught with cannabis and have been referred to agencies for help. Issued: November 2018
As reported using social media sites Oakham, Barleythorpe and Rutland have unfortunatley noticed a rise in recorded crime surrounding burglaries. With this information an operation named Op Hexagon has been developed in Rutland to tackle travelling criminality. We border Linconshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire and it is our understanding that crimes are being commited by criminals from these areas. We are working with Cross Border crime units and officers from Market harborough and Melton Mowbray (Eastern NPA), to tackle this issue.
Issued: December 2017
What we are doing:We have noticed a decline in burglaries in Oakham and Barleythorpe but we are not being complacent and will continue to use resources to target criminality that enters in Rutland using main arterial routes. Issued: November 2018
