Current local priorities
Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities that we will be concentrating on over the coming months:
You told us that youths and street drinkers are causing Anti Social Behaviour inside the Bus Station preventing people from using the facilities. Damage had been caused inside the premises and abusive language was being used.
Issued: February 2019
What we are doing:We are working closely with the Community Safety Team from Rutland Council Council who manage the site. Young people caught on CCTV causing damage have already been identified and measures put in place to prevent them offending again. We will speak to the young people and ask them why they spend so much time in the Bus Station. High visibility patrols will take place and inappropiate behaviour will be challenged. Working with partners over the half term options were offered to them but due to the weather many were in the Skate Park area of Cutts Close. A few negative interactions but I sat for some time in the park carrying out some work on my agile laptop. One youth dealt with for a minor assault on the park and dealt with by a Youth Intervention Referral. Issued: February 2019
Local residents bought to the Beat Teams attention that drugs and alcohol were being used by our young people in Oakham and Barleythorpe. The ages ranged from 15-21yrs of age. This is having a detrimental affect on these young people and the surrounding premises.
Issued: September 2018
What we are doing:Local Officers have been actively targeting areas that have been identified as locations where drug activity takes place as well as using intelligence led policing to challenge people and vehicles suspected to be involved in drug use activity. We have used Engage which supports young people with alcohol and drug related issues to direct them away from using illegal substances. I have continued to target local areas within Oakham and Barleythorpe and also outlying areas as well as Uppingham and I have succesfully caught more young people and diverted them to relevant agencies. I am pleased that the public continue to provide information to me using our social media sites. Please dont hestitate to use Crimestoppers to provide information as well; https://crimestoppers-uk.org/ Issued: February 2019
