Sgt Matt Oswin

Collar number: 346

Sergeant Matt Oswin was appointed as the Sergeant for the Charnwood East beat in early December 2017, having taken over from Sergeant Chris Wharton.

Sergeant Oswin joined Leicestershire Police in February 2013 and has served in a number of departments including the City Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team, the Patrol and Resolution Team, and the Professional Standards Department. Immediately prior to being deployed to Charnwood East he was working as a Patrol and Resolution Sergeant at Braunstone Police Station.

Sergeant Oswin said "I am excited to be a part of such a strong and motivated team that Charnwood East currently has, and I relish the challenge to ensure the public receive the highest standards of service. I aim to protect those who are most vulnerable in our society and I will target those who cause most harm.

"I invite our communities to engage with my team about matters that affect them. Without engagement from the people we serve we cannot truly Police by consent."

I am new to the role of PCSO beginning my role independently in December 2017. My beat involves Syston and the surrounding villages. My aim is to be highly involved in the community by attending community events and being an approachable and friendly face who can listen to any questions or queries and give advice where needed. I will also be working to reduce cases of ASB or any criminal activity. If you see me walking or cycling about feel free to come and have a chat and bring up any issues you may be having that I may be able to assist with.
