Current local priorities
Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities that we will be concentrating on over the coming months:
Businesses and retail units in Syston have suffered an increase in burglaries within recent months. Analysis points to the offenders using rear or side doors to gain access before cash and other small items are taken. The Police are looking to reduce the amount of burglaries and reassure the local community.
Issued: September 2017
What we are doing:The local neighbourhood team conducted numerous enquiries in response to the increase in burglaries. The team worked collaboratively with the local council, local businesses, members of the public, and other Leicestershire Police departments to gather evidence and to try and prevent further offences. Following our investigation a number of people were arrested and charged with burglary. They received a total of 5 1/2 years imprisonment. Since their imprisonment the number of burglaries relating to businesses in Syston fell dramatically.
