Once you have submitted your application to become a police community support officer it will be reviewed and if it passes an initial assessment, you will be asked to come for an interview.
If you are successful at the interview stage, you will need to undergo background and security checks. A basic medical examination will also be carried out. If these are clear, you will be recommended for an appointment with Leicestershire Police Training.
Leicestershire Police has its own training programme for incoming PCSO candidates.
To reflect the increasing importance of PCSOs and the professionalism of the police force, a new PCSO training programme was recently introduced.
This is a national programme and is assessed against recognised National Occupational Standards (NOS).
