Women's Network

The Women’s Network is committed to improving the quality of the working environment and providing a support group for all women at Leicestershire Police.

Membership of the network is open to all officers, special constables and police staff. It will keep members informed about training courses, conferences and events of interest and provides a forum to discuss issues of concern.

For anyone who has a problem or needs to talk with someone away from their normal working environment, the Women’s Network has members at all levels of the organisation to give help and support to their colleagues.

The Women’s Network is involved with internal, national and international groups to develop a network of social, professional and business contacts for all women in the police service.

The network exists to:

Encourage all levels of the organisation to support and fully implement Leicestershire Police policies in respect of fairness at work; Support Leicestershire Police in its recruiting policies to encourage greater representation of women throughout the organisation; Increase the understanding of issues facing women in the Constabulary; Assist in the development of new and existing policies and practices where necessary;

Highlight the positive contribution women make to the organisation; Support the Gender Agenda initiative, which brings forward important issues in the police service, ensuring that women have the right environment and equipment to do their job professionally, promoting work-life balance and highlighting the importance of flexible hours.

The network also maintains links with the Police Federation, UNISON, Black Police Association (BPA), Gay Police Association and the Disability Support Network.
