Every year, thousands of pieces of evidence from crime scenes are collected and processed by the department including shoemarks and DNA samples. Thousands of fingerprints pass through our bureau or are developed by our laboratory staff using chemical processes.

Hundreds of computers and digital storage media are examined along with thousands of hours of CCTV footage. Our staff provide regular statements of evidence or make witness appearances in court cases.

We remain proud that staff from your local police service are not only serving you but also the national interest.

Forensic Services staff from Leicestershire are actively engaged in national projects to develop and implement new technology, improve the efficiency and quality of evidential procedures and the ability and competency of staff. Our officers have also been involved in major international operations that have taken them to the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Kosovo, and countries affected by the Tsunami.
